Road2London – Luke Cragg Interview
Posted By Joe on March 21, 2012
Luke Cragg is the second of our three marathon men on a mission to run under 2hours 12minutes in London in April, and in the process snatch one of the two remaining qualifying spots for the British Olympic team this summer. Cragg speaks about moving up to the marathon for the first time.
Cragg graduated from Leeds Met. University in 2008 and traveled to Almosa, Colorado, to compete for Adams State University in the USA. Whilst there, Cragg saw a dramatic improvement in his athletic performance, bringing his 5000m PB down to 13.41, and his 10000m PB down to 29.10, as well as winning an individual NCAA Division 2 title over 5000m to go along with several team titles on the country and the track.
Returning to the UK last summer, Cragg has already raced well over 10k with a 29.31 clocking back in November, a win over a good field at the Alsager 5mile Road Race in 24.41, a 14.07 5k at Armagh and a 65.25 half marathon in Spain. In this interview, Cragg talks about the differences in his preparation for the Marathon compared to running 10000m, the work which will constitute the bulk of his training, and how taking drinks on the run is something he needs practice at.

Tune in tomorrow for our interview with the final athlete of the three, John Beattie.
